Out of the Mouth of Peter . . .

Those of you who know Peter very well are aware of the fact that he can say the funniest things. I could post a funny "Peter Comment" each day; instead, I will pick the funniest comments to share.

Peter decided to take his own picture!

Disclaimer:  I have permission from Uncle Tim to retell this story. He said that it is just too funny not to share!

Last week, Peter and Matthew traveled with Uncle Tim to the Cow Camp in Ironside to fix fence. During one of their breaks from fixing fence, Uncle Tim and Peter wandered away from the group to "let their lizards spit." As they were standing there, the following conversation took place:

Peter: (Looking at Uncle Tim) "Well, that isn't very big!"
Uncle Tim: (Looking dumbfounded but continuing his business) "Oh, okay."
Peter: (Shooting pee about 15 feet, looking at Uncle Tim again) "And it doesn't work very well either!"
Uncle Tim: (Silently zips up his pants and walks away!)

Uncle Tim said that he was somewhat embarrassed that his 6 year old nephew informed him that he was not well endowed, but he was not embarrassed enough not to retell the story.

McBride Family Photo Shoot Minus Toby!

We had some photos taken by Amy Eddy of InspiraTion Photography last week. Toby was not able to make it because he was guiding hunters. However, we are planning another photo session soon with Toby! I would highly recommend InspiraTion Photography if you are looking for a fun, energetic, and talented photographer! Below are some of my favorites:

Our Growing Boy!

William is growing so quickly! He will be 7 weeks old on Tuesday, September 21. Time is flying by too fast.

William - 3 weeks old

Peter and William - 5 weeks old

Papa Steve and William - 5 weeks old
There is a slight resemblance between these two!

William at 6 weeks.

William's first taste of cereal.
Our Chunky Monkey weighs 14 1/2 pounds and loves to eat!

The cereal that did not make it into his mouth!

William started smiling this week!
He is 6 1/2 weeks old.

Another smile!
Not sure what he was looking at.

First Day of School

Matthew and Peter's summer vacation came to an end on Wednesday, August 25th. Needless to say, neither of them was thrilled to return to the school routine (in bed by 8:30, homework, awake by 6:15, etc.). In fact, Peter informed a woman a couple of days prior to school beginning that he wasn't going to school this year! Needless to say, we did make him go to school.

Matthew and Peter have adjusted well and absolutely love their teachers! Matthew is in the 3rd grade, and Peter is in the 1st grade. Below are some pictures from the first day. You will notice that I am not in them because my first day will not be until November 1st when I return from maternity leave!

William Henry McBride

William Henry McBride was born on August 3, 2010 at 8:01 a.m. He weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. We are all doing extremely well and are very blessed to finally have our handsome, healthy baby boy here! Matthew and Peter LOVE being big brothers and are wonderful helpers! Today I took some pictures of William. I think that I enjoyed the photo shoot more than he did; William does not look very amused in some of the pictures!

This is my favorite picture. I was able to catch a smile while he was sleeping.

He appears to be in deep thought!

I must not have been very exciting, as he fell asleep during the photo shoot!

The Nursery

Below are pictures of the Nursery. We went with the Animal Acres Crib Set from Babies "R" Us. Our friend Erin Dentinger painted the AMAZING pictures on the walls.

I painted the trim on this dresser to match the green on the chair rail.

Tiffany and Rachel found this rocking chair at a second hand store in Ontario for $15.00. (They tried to get the price down to $10.00, but I told them I was willing to pay the $15.00!)

The $15.00 rocking chair after Matthew (yes, I put my 8 year old in charge of refinishing the rocking chair!) refinished it. I think he did a fabulous job!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

When I had Matthew, my Aunt Bev made me the most amazing receiving blankets and burp rags. One might think that receiving blankets and burp rags are fairly generic and cannot be that special. I thought the same thing until I had a baby. Aunt Bev's receiving blankets are special because they are larger than a traditional receiving blanket which is a bonus if you have large babies! Although they are larger, they are not too bulky. The burp rags are amazing because of their size and shape. They are shaped similar to a kidney bean so they fit perfectly over a shoulder.

Well, after two babies and 8 1/2 years of use, I decided that I would make new receiving blankets and burp rags. So, in the last few weeks of my pregnancy I made the receiving blankets and burp rags below.

After making the receiving blankets and burp rags, I had some fabric remaining. I decided to make the quilt below with the fabric. This quilt differs from the receiving blankets because it has a border, binding, batting, etc. and has been machine quilted. This is the first quilt I have made since my 4-H days. With a little Quilting 101 refresher course and help from Aunt Bev, I was able to create a quilt that I am very proud of. The project below was not planned and arose simply because I was enjoying sewing so much; however, I have to admit that it is my favorite! Now, I just need a sewing room so I don't have to use my dining room table for my quilting projects!

My Fishies!!!

Matthew and Peter have taken two weeks of swimming lessons this summer. They have made significant growth and have had excellent instructors. I am so proud of them and grateful that we have such an amazing swimming pool in our town!

We Have Puppies!

In mid-May Toby and I were sitting on the porch one evening and he says "I think Daisy (our female border collie) might have puppies in August." I was shocked! This was not a "planned" pregnancy, as we have Daisy and a male black lab (Bo) and Toby thought he kept them separated at the appropriate times. However, Daisy and Bo must have been sneaking around behind our backs because on May 24th (not August!) we had five (three females and two males) border collie/lab puppies. Don't get me wrong, I love puppies. Unfortunately, they do not stay puppies forever, and we do not need five extra dogs to feed. As a result, we are trying to find good homes for our little surprises. Matthew and Peter have stated that they are the best kind of dogs one could have. They not only hunt birds, but they will also help work cattle. The best of both worlds! If anyone is interested in a FREE, cute puppy let me know. They are just over seven weeks old and are ready to go to their new homes. Please see the photos below and let me know if you or someone you know would like a puppy. The brown and white puppy already has a home.

The Woman

Setting: Dining room table eating dinner as a family.

Matthew: "Mom, would you please get me a nice cold glass of ice water?"

Me: "Matthew, I just sat down to eat dinner with the rest of you. Why don't you get up and get yourself a nice cold glass of ice water?"

Peter: "Yah Matthew, The Woman doesn't have to do everything!"

Toby and I started laughing hysterically.

I am proud that Peter stood up for his mother; however, I am not sure I like the label "The Woman" . . .

I finally took the plunge . . .

Tiffany has been on my case for quite some time to start blogging. She is an amazing blogger and writer and has always informed me that the daily adventures of Matthew and Peter are too comical not to share. So, in 2007 I created a blog. No, that is not a typo - in 2007. The title was Two McBride Boys, and I never made a post! There are instances when being a type A personality is not always a good trait. When it comes to blogging, my personality hindered my progress. I wanted my blog to look as awesome as all of the blogs I read. I didn't want a "simple" template created by blogger. So, I gave up. During the past month, I have been reading more and more blogs and thinking to myself "I should blog about that . . . " or "If I had a blog I could share these pictures . . . " Finally, I decided to start blogging. After a week of designing and modifying my blog (it still does not look exactly how I want it to look), I have decided that I will start posting. Obviously, the title Two McBride Boys is not appropriate anymore, so I have changed the title to McBride Family Adventures. Stay tuned for the latest McBride Family Adventures!
